Day 46 - Sept. 30
The four of us took a taxi to Eastport, just across the bridge to check out Fawcett Marine and West Marine, and then to the grocery store. A nice morning and I was able to pick up a couple shirts cheap at West Marine. We had to put groceries in the trunk of the cab but it was full of sacks. Our cabby apologized, telling us it belonged to his younger brother, another cabby, who was shot and killed last March. It was so sad. His brother was robbed and killed by two young guys. They found the guys several weeks later when a neighbour reported a robbery in progress. The police caught the guys and the younger one was wearing a bloody t-shirt. The blood matched the murder victim. They won't go to trial until next year. The first man's is set for Feb. 21, the birthday of the murder victim. It was such a sad story to hear.
We returned to the boat and spent the afternoon waiting for the pump out boat to come and empty our holding tank, and didn't get back into town until late afternoon. We had hoped to tour the Navel Academy and Chapel, but it was too late in the day. :(
We are finding that we just don't have enough time to spend in each place. We certainly could spend more time here to see all the sights, but in order to make Florida by the end of November, we have to keep moving. I can certainly see the advantage of becoming full-time liveaboards, not that I'm willing to give up the house just yet!
(Tell Barstool John that we had hoped to make it to Dave's Pub on 4th and Chester, but we just ran out of time)
